Dental Bridges are artificial teeth that are used to replace one or more missing teeth. They can be anchored into place using dental implants or cemented using anchor teeth that are usually adjacent to the gap. Bridges are a permanent dental appliance and cannot be removed.
The Dental Bridges Treatment
The dental bridges can be made from several materials. It depends on where the bridge will be placed. For instance, chewing teeth will need a different material than tearing teeth. No matter what material is chosen, the color will be matched to your natural teeth for a beautiful smile. Your dentist will examine your dental condition to find the right material to make the crowns your bridge.
The dentist will first work on the anchor teeth on either side of your tooth gap. The adjacent teeth are reduced so that the bridge can be placed over those anchor teeth. In case of dental implants, the metal supports are inserted first.
Next, the dentist will take an impression of your teeth by using a mold. The impression goes to our state of the art lab so that the bridge can be customized to your specifications. While the final bridge is made, you will have a temporary bridge placed into your mouth.
Creating the permanent bridge takes a week to a fortnight during which the temporary will help you chew and function normally until the permanent bridge is created.
When the permanent bridge is ready, the temp is removed and the final bridge is put in. The bridge will either be cemented to your anchor teeth or attached to your implant.
